Premier League: Burnley 1-6 Man City

Sunday, April 4, 2010

Manchester City scored three goals in the first seven minutes and led 5-0 at halftime on the way to destroy next-to-last Burnley 6-1 at a sodden Turf Moor.

The hosts were dead and buried inside 20 minutes thanks to goals from Emmanuel Adebayor, Craig Bellamy, Carlos Tévez and Patrick Vieira.

Clarets boss Brian Laws could only watch helplessly from the sidelines as Adebayor made it 5-0 just before the half-time whistle.

Vincent Kompany headed City's sixth goal before the hour mark, although it was the hosts who had the final say with Steven Fletcher's left-foot effort finally giving the Burnley faithful something to cheer.
