AC Milan remained three points behind rivals and league leaders Inter Milan and two points behind second-placed AS Roma after a 3-2 win at Cagliari.

Marco Borriello broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, only for Daniele Ragatzu to equalise for Cagliari ten minutes later.

Milan were back in the lead through Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's long range effort two minutes later, but the hosts were level again in the 32nd minute when Alessandro Matri hit his 13th goal of the season.

However, an error from Federico Marchetti gifted Milan the lead again in the 38th minute as the goalkeeper spilled Ignazio Abate's cross straight on to the leg of Davide Astori who could not avoid the own goal.
