Brazilian player scores hat-trick as striker and goalkeeper

Friday, May 7, 2010

A Brazilian soccer player grabbed one of the most bizarre hat-tricks goals ever which secured Palmeiras B a 3-2 victory at Juventus in a São Paulo third division match on Wednesday.

The home team took a 2-0 lead in the first-half, but Palmeiras tied the game in the second interval with two goals from striker Diogo.

Then in the 93rd minute, Palmeiras lost their goalkeeper to a red card for exchanging punches with the opposition. Having used all three of their substitutes, Diogo was forced to put on the gloves, and then the incredible happened.

Juventus got the opportunity to take their late late corner, only for Diogo to claim the ball after a weak header on target. Then, with Juve having thrown all their players up-field for their final chance to win the game, Diogo decided to thump a ball upfield. The ball traveled 80 meters and bounced all the way towards the empty Juventus goal.
