Diego pledges future to Juventus

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Brazilian star Diego has reaffirmed his desire to remain at Juventus next term - as long as he is in the new coach's plans.

The 25-year-old made a €24.5 million switch to the Bianconeri last summer from Werder Bremen, but he endured a difficult first season at the Stadio Olimpico.

And there are suggestions he is bound to struggle even more under new coach Luigi Del Neri, whose 4-4-2 tactics are unsuitable for a trequartista.

"I have no problems staying at the club with Del Neri," Diego told La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

"Better yet, I am ready to put myself to the test again. Tactics don’t matter, I can adapt."

He added: "I made a choice a year ago, and I’m not changing my mind just because I had a bad season.

"But the club must think the same, as if I stay without playing it is not a good investment for anyone.

"The important thing is to make things clear. I want to understand if I’m part of the project, otherwise we will find the best solution for everyone."
