World Cup 2010 Group E: Cameroon 1-2 Netherlands

Friday, June 25, 2010

The Netherlands maintained their 100 percent record at the World Cup after beating already-eliminated Cameroon 2-1 at the Green Point Stadium.

The Dutch went ahead after 36 minutes when Robin van Persie played a neat one-two with Rafael van der Vaart before firing between Souleymanou Hamidou's legs.

Cameroon captain Samuel Eto'o leveled with a 65th-minute penalty after van der Vaart was penalised for handballing Geremi's free-kick.

But the Indomitable Lions were denied a point as sub Klaas-Jan Huntelaar tucked home the winner in the 83rd minute after Arjen Robben's long-range blast cannoned off the post.
