The girlfriend of Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas has become a scapegoat for the European champions' opening World Cup defeat by Switzerland.
Sara Carbonero, who was voted Sexiest Reporter in the World by FHM USA last year, is a touchline reporter for Spanish TV channel Telecinco and is known for her no-holds barred post match interviews.
But despite Casillas’s gaffe, the person taking the flack for the result is girlfriend Carbonero.
Spain's supporters claimed her pitch side appearance may have caused Casillas to have other things on his mind.
The wives and girlfriends of Spanish players, known as esposas y novias, do not usually accompany their partners on big tournaments, but Carbonero’s high profile as a glamorous reporter meant that she has her place secured at the games.
The 25-year-old beauty has now reportedly faced questions from her own TV station about her being a "destabilising influence" on the team.
Casillas met Carbonero at last year's Confederations Cup and the pair have since become one of Spain's most high-profile celebrity couples.
