Rafa Benítez has come out fighting after rumours surrounding his future at Inter Milan, insisting his position as the club's coach is "solid".

The Spanish tactician is under fire following a 1-0 loss to bitter rivals AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina at the weekend.

However, despite president Massimo Moratti admitting on Monday "it would seem difficult to go on like this", Benítez is confident his job is safe.

Benítez told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I feel the confidence of the president. My position is solid.

"We are all disappointed with the derby defeat. But I am working with Moratti and with (sporting director Marco) Branca with a view to the January market."
