Late goals from Joey Barton and Andy Carroll ensured Newcastle United gave Alan Pardew a winning start as the club's new manager thanks of a 3-1 home victory over Liverpool.
Dirk Kuyt cancelled out Kevin Nolan's first-half opener with a deflected shot just minutes into the second half.
But Barton restored the advantage after pouncing on a loose ball in the 80th minute before Carroll wrapped up the success in injury-time with a left-footed shot that fizzed home from all of 25 yards out.
