Aston Villa snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 success over Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion at Villa Park.
Stewart Downing opened the scoring for Villa with a close-range finish on 25 minutes and Emile Heskey made it 2-0 in the 80th minute with a stooping header.
West Brom managed to grab a late goal through Paul Scharner but the hosts held on to move four points clear of the relegation zone.
