With his team leading 3-0 at Krylia Sovetov Samara, Carlos received a pass from the goalkeeper and was about to pass it when a banana was hurled form the crowd right next to the player's feet.

In response to that, the ex-Real Madrid player picked up the banana and threw it onto the side of the pitch before slowly took off his armband and depressingly walked off the field, heading straight to the bench.

"I'm outraged by the sickening behaviour of this fan, who, in fact, insulted not only me but all the players," Carlos told Sport Express.

"I hope the Russian federation, UEFA and FIFA will give an adequate evaluation to this disgusting incident.

"The majority of the people in the country treat players, including foreign ones, cordially and with respect. Unfortunately, there are also freaks, such as this one."

The incident is the latest racist scandal involving the 38-year-old, who joined the Russian club earlier this year from Corinthians.

In March, a Zenit St Petersburg fan was pictured offering a banana to Carlos at a pre-match ceremony.

Zenit were fined $10,000 and banned the fan from their games.
