At 19, Neymar becomes father to baby boy

Despite being only 19 years old, Brazilian phenom Neymar has become the father of a baby boy.

The Santos striker says in a statement posted on his website that first son, David Lucca, was born in São Paulo on Wednesday.

"The boy came into the world with 47 cm and 2.810 kg in the São Luiz Maternity Hospital in São Paulo," read a statement on Neymar's official website, www.neymaroficial.com.

"Family and friends are happy for the child, which is fine. The mother is also great."

Neymar has not revealed the name of the mother but local media has reported she is a 17-year-old Brazilian.

In May, Neymar said the name of the mother would not be made public to protect her and the child.
