Premier League: Tottenham 1-5 Man City

Monday, August 29, 2011

Edin Džeko scored four times as he inspired Manchester City to a stunning 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

City opened the scoring in the 34th minute as debutant Samir Nasri played in a delightful cross for Džeko to slot home from close range.

The duo combined again for the second goal four minutes before the break and Džeko completed his hat-trick on 55 minutes when he scored from Yaya Touré's square ball.

The visitors picked up their fourth on the hour mark when Sergio Agüero brushed past Michael Dawson and rifled the ball beyond Brad Friedel.

Younès Kaboul headed home a consolation goal for Tottenham, but the afternoon belonged to Džeko, who scored his fourth seconds from the final whistle with a superb strike from the edge of the box.
