Premier League: Man City 4-1 Aston Villa

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League with an emphatic 4-1 success against previously unbeaten Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.

Mario Balotelli opened the scoring with a neat overhead kick in the 28th minute and Adam Johnson capitalised on Stephen Warnock's mistake to doubled the lead at the start of the second half.

Vincent Kompany guided in a header in the 52nd minute to give City even more breathing space, before Warnock pulled one back with the home side down to 10 men with Micah Richards being treated for a head injury.

But soon the hosts were back to full strength and three goals to the good again, with James Milner curling home a superb effort from 20 yards.
