Balotelli opened the scoring in the 30th minute as he received the ball about 40 yards from goal and spotted Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny off his line, taking a few steps forward before beating him with a dipping long-range effort.

It was the Manchester City striker's first goal in six international appearances.

Balotelli's strike partner of the night Giampaolo Pazzini then added the second on the hour mark to seal the victory.
