Goal of the day: Bart van Brakel (Den Bosch) vs MVV Maastricht
Table of Contents
A wonderful halfway-line goal was scored in the Dutch second division on Friday night as Den Bosch won 4-1 at MVV Maastricht to move into sixth in the division.
And the standout moment arrived 17 minutes from time as the visitors opened up a 2-goal lead.
There seemed little danger on when, looking to defend his rigid high defensive line, MVV's Sjors Verdellen stabbed the ball over the halfway-line to opponent Bart van Brakel.
But on receiving the ball van Brakel only had one thing on his mind as he spotted Maastricht goalie Job Bulters standing just a few yards off his line.
Without taking a touch to control the ball, van Brakel immediately shot at goal from inside his own half and – with barely an inch of margin over the keeper's outstretched hand – his lob brilliantly ended up in the back of the net.
