In one of the most freakiest events we can recall in recent European football, a match ball for a Bundesliga game burst open after receiving such a thunderous free-kick.

In the Friday evening game between Bayern Munich and FC Köln at the Allianz Arena, an early free-kick was awarded to the hosts, which Daniel van Buyten stepped up to take.

And the Belgian defender gave the ball such a powerful leathering that he tore the fabric of the adidas Torfabrik and the match ball's insides swiftly became it's "outsides".

The incident saw most of the players and the referee burst out laughing.

Bayern winger Arjen Robben then carefully picked the faulty ball up, gave it a look and then booted it into the stands as the crowd cheered his treatment of the offending item.
