This unfortunate piece of defending comes from the second tier of Brazilian football featuring Guarani and Goiás on Tuesday evening.

Guarani took the initiative after only 5 minutes through Schwenck but Goiás forced an equaliser 8 minutes later.

With the match seemingly destined to end 1-1, Guarani defender Rodrigo Arroz, had himself a moment of madness, a moment he will never forget.

In the 86th minute the ball was knocked on by a Goiás midfielder, slightly under pressure Arroz did the sensible thing and decided to send the ball back to his keeper.

But the 28-year-old put a little too much on his backpass and watched in disbelief as his 55 yard pass looped over his helpless, out-of-position goalkeeper.

To rub salt into Arroz's wounds, his hilariously unfortunate own goal cost his side the game.
