Spain took the lead after just five minutes when Jesé volleyed home a cross from Gerard Deulofeu, who added himself on to the score sheet with a second in the 42nd minute.

Just three minutes later and Javier Manquillo made a great run down the right hand side before playing in Jesé, who obliged and scored his second of the game.

USA coach Tab Ramos made changes at half-time but they failed to inspire a comeback, allowing Deulofeu to score his second of the game on the hour mark.

The Spaniards, though, were denied a clean sheet as Gil pulled one back for the USA with a spectacular strike on 77 minutes.

A Spain turnover deep in their own end of the field presented the 19-year old with the ball a few steps from the penalty area.

Gil moved to his right before tapping to his left in order to work some space for himself.

The Real Salt Lake forward then teed up for a glorious left-footed curler that found the upper right side of the net where Spain goalkeeper Daniel Sotres had no chance of stopping it.
