Lionel Messi receives self-portrait made of Swarovski crystals worth £50m

Lionel Messi has received one of the craziest presents ever as he was given a self-portrait made from £50 million worth of Swarovski crystals.

The man behind the extravagant piece of art was Colombian artist Mauricio Benítez - also known as Mr Bling.

The Barcelona forward was given the ostentatious gift on Monday when he was in Medellín, Colombia, headlining a charity game called "Lionel Messi XI vs World XI".

Mr Bling has made a name for himself by applying expensive crystals and diamonds to fashion and luxury decorations.
