The 24-year-old was cast aside by Chelsea after failing to nail down to a place in the first team at Stamford Bridge, and was sent out on loan to Sevilla during the summer transfer window.

The former Werder Bremen star has impressed since making the move to the Spanish club, scoring in Sevilla's first-leg Europa League play-off tie against Śląsk Wrocław and making three La Liga appearances to date.

He is proving a hit with fans too, who are so taken with him they have hatched a novel strategy to convince him to stay at the club long-term.

According to German newspaper Bild, Sevilla fans are looking for a Spanish wife for the German in the hope that he can be persuaded to remain in the country and sign for the club.

Supporters were inspired by the fact that current Sevilla captain Ivan Rakitić married a local girl, which led him to turn down several lucrative offers to move abroad this summer.
