Ross McCormack looked to have sealed an undeserved point for Leeds when he cancelled out Greg Halford's first-half header with seven minutes to go.

But, almost straight from the kick-off, Derbyshire came up with his match-winning moment.

There seemed to be little danger when Derbyshire collected possession 25 yards out, but the 27-year-old unleashed an unstoppable effort towards goal.

The ball hurtled beautifully into the top corner, sparking scenes of unbridled ecstasy among the home contingent.

"It was a fantastic strike from Derbs and that proves how clinical he can be," Forest manager Billy Davies said afterwards.

"He's always been a great asset to us because of his work ethic and ability to chase every lost cause down. I'm pleased for both him and the team."
