Guillermo Ochoa shows off goalkeeping masterpiece vs Brazil

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa put in a magnificent performance to earn his side a 0-0 draw with Brazil in the World Cup Group A clash in Fortaleza on Tuesday.

The hosts put in a disjointed display for large periods of the game, and were left to rue a couple of superb saves from opposition goalkeeper Ochoa.

Ochoa made a superb save in each half, flying to his right to claw away Neymar's nodded effort in the first period before being in the right place to keep out Thiago Silva's free header from five yards out three minutes from time.

When the final whistle blew, the 28-year-old was an easy choice for Man of the Match.

"It was a very difficult game, especially playing Brazil on their home turf. When we heard the fans cheering we knew we had to double our efforts," Ochoa told Univision.

"Fortunately the team put in a great defensive performance and the whole group earned this valuable point.

"I think it was certainly the performance of a lifetime, as to keep a clean sheet with good saves against Brazil in a World Cup is as good as it gets."
