Goal of the day: James Rodríguez (Real Madrid) vs Granada

Sunday, November 2, 2014

An absolute beauty from James Rodríguez helped inspire a dominant Real Madrid to a comfortable 4-0 victory away to Granada on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored after just 99 seconds to get the visiting side off to a dream start at the Nuevo Los Cármenes.

A second Madrid goal seemed inevitable and arrived 15 minutes before the break due to a flash of brilliance from Rodríguez.

Dani Carvajal aimed a throw in towards Karim Benzema and the Frenchman flicked the ball over a Granada player for Rodríguez to run onto.

After seeing Benzema's pass and making a short run, the Colombian then smashed an unstoppable first-time volley that dipped over Roberto and into the back of the net.

Benzema added a third shortly after half-time before Rodríguez took advantage of a defensive mix-up to poke home a fourth three minutes before time.

"James' goal looked good. It was a fantastic goal," said Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti after the game.

Madrid defender Álvaro Arbeloa added: "Players like James fit into any system and team in the world. He is world class, an absolutely brilliant player, and it's a blessing for any coach to have players like him. We're very happy with him."
