A weakened AC Milan side was crushed 5-0 by Chelsea at the Russian Railway Cup in Moscow. Frank Lampard opened the scoring before Nicolas Anelka netting four times to settle the third place in the pre-season tournament. The Frenchman scored more goals in 58 minutes there than in his first six months at the club.

Il Rossoneri were suffering from an injury crisis meant there were no fit strikers available to Carlo Ancelotti, even teenager Alberto Paloschi could not start. So, Massimo Ambrosini and Andrea Pirlo were pushed upfront formed a temporary front pairing. While Gianluca Zambrotta and Marek Jankulovski went from full-backs to wide midfielders.

Chelsea took the lead after just three minutes through Lampard's free-kick which missed by everyone, flicking off Daniele Bonera and slipping between Zeljko Kalac’s legs.

Six minutes later Anelka scored his first goal with a shot from the edge of the area after a mistake by defender Giuseppe Favalli. The former Bolton man got his second after disastrous Kalac completely missed his kick as he tried to clear Jankulovski's back-pass, allowing Anelka to tap into an empty net.

Anelka added another two in the second half to complete his remarkable match, set up for by fellow Frenchman Florent Malouda.
