Raúl admits Barça might out of sight

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Real Madrid captain Raúl González believes that it could be impossible for his side to catch La Liga leaders Barcelona.

While Raúl celebrated his 500th appearance for Los Merengues with the second goal in their 3-0 win in Mallorca, Barcelona maintained their 12-point advantage with a late 3-2 victory at Osasuna.

Perhaps that disappointment caused Raúl to hint that the title race could be over.

He told radio station Onda Cero: "(Pep) Guardiola's arrival has been important, but I think they can all take credit.

"They have a good squad, good players and they have instilled the values needed to play attractive football.

"That means that everyone is happy and everyone likes the football they are playing.

"We are in good form and what we want to do is to continue winning matches. After beating Valencia and Villarreal at home it was vital to win away and we have done that.

"But there is still a long to in the league. Barça can still stumble, but if they continue playing like they have been then the title will be unattainable. In football many things can happen and we just have to go game by game."
