Chelsea star Frank Lampard says he will be forever grateful for learning so much from Claudio Ranieri in his early Stamford Bridge days.
The England midfielder is now about to be guided by another Italian in Carlo Ancelotti, who checks in at West London this week to succeed Guus Hiddink.
But Lampard admits no-one made a bigger impact on his early development than Ranieri.
He told the Daily Star: "Claudio Ranieri was the big influence on my life when I was younger. He gave me the opportunity at Chelsea and I will never ever forget that.
"He brought a lot of players into the team and he's part of the history of the club.
"I love the man and I don't think I would be here today if it hadn't been for him."
