Philippe Mexès wants to stay with Roma

Monday, July 6, 2009

AS Roma defender Philippe Mexès has dismissed rumours linking him with a possible move to Chelsea this summer.

Mexès, who is under contract with the Giallorossi for a further two seasons, was linked with a move to Chelsea just a few weeks ago with new Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti a keen admirer of the France international.

The 27-year-old, though, insists his future lies in the Italian capital.

"I will remain at Roma," he told a press conference.

"It always gives me pleasure when a team is interested in me but I am happy at Roma.

"Last season was the worst one in my five years at Roma and I would not like leaving this way. I want to show my worth."
