Bayern Munich 'want only José Bosingwa'

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Bayern Munich have claimed they are "not interested" in another player than Chelsea right-back José Bosingwa to fill the void left by Willy Sagnol and Massimo Oddo.

The Bundesliga giants have been strongly linked with making a move for the Portugal international this summer as they are looking for a "world-class" right-back following Sagnol's retirement and sending last season’s loan-signing Oddo back to AC Milan after he failed to impress.

And Bayern general manager Uli Hoeneß has confirmed that Bosingwa, who turns 27 later this month, is very much on the Germans' radar.

"We are still interested in José," Hoeneß is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying.

"We need a strong, experienced defender on the right side, especially if we use (Franck) Ribéry in a more offensive role, as is being considered.

"We want only Bosingwa and have no interest in any other player for this position.

"Chelsea agreed to give us a signal after the Community Shield that they were ready to talk and we are waiting for contact from them."
