Klaas-Jan Huntelaar says he would love to emulate the Dutch trio who were key figures in the Grande AC Milan side of the 1980s and 90s.

The Rossoneri famously built their success as Arrigo Sacchi’s Grande Milan in the late 1980s and early 1990s with the Dutch trio of Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard.

And Huntelaar, who turns 26 on August 12, is thrilled to have been given the chance to follow in their footsteps.

"Milan - the club and the city - is a very special place for us Dutchmen," he told reporters at the Malpensa airport.

"I know van Basten very well, he was my coach at Ajax as well as in the national side.

"Milan should have a great season."
