Luca Toni unveiled as Roma player

Sunday, January 3, 2010

Luca Toni was officially presented to the media as AS Roma player ahead of a friendly match against Cisco Lodigiani on Saturday.

The striker has switched to the Serie A side for the rest of the season after falling out of favour at Bayern Munich, with the Giallorossi paying him €3.1 million for the duration of his stay.

Roma will then have the option to buy the striker outright and Toni is determined to knock in the goals to earn a permanent switch.

Toni, who will wear the number 30 shirt, told journalists: "I'm extremely happy to be here. It's the club that I always wanted.

"I'm delighted and I will try to help the coach and all the squad achieve our goals.

"I have great motivations, as soon as I heard that Roma wanted me I accepted immediately.

"I'm up for the challenge, it won't be easy but we'll see what happens.

"I have six months to show that I am a Roma player. I have to score goals.

"I will try to deserve my place because there are already great attackers at Roma."

He added: "I didn't come to Roma just for the World Cup.

"Now my aim is to score a lot of goals and play well in the Giallorossi shirt. Then we will see what happens in June."
