The Real Madrid striker put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half time when he collected a long clearance from Ángel Di María before beating defender Per Mertesacker, nudging the ball past the onrushing Germany goalkeeper René Adler and then placing the his shot into the back of an empty goal from over 25 yards.
