Nine-time champions Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League in the first knockout round for the sixth successive season after a 1-1 home draw with Olympique Lyon.
The French side were one goal up after the first leg but Cristiano Ronaldo restored parity after just six minutes from a tight angle following Guti's precision pass.
But Miralem Pjanić equalised in the 75th minute to send Lyon into the quarter-finals with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
