Óscar Cardozo hints at Benfica exit

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Benfica striker Óscar Cardozo has revealed that he is contemplating embarking on a new challenge away from Portugal.

The prolific hitman, who joined from Argentine club Newell's Old Boys €11.1 million in 2007, is believed to be under scrutiny by Manchester City after an impressive season at the Estádio da Luz in which he scored 38 goals in all competitions.

"I want to play for a big club from a different league, but the one to decide will be Benfica," Cardozo told RTP.

"The coach spoke to me yesterday and he told me he wants me to stay for one more year, but I do not know. That will depend on Benfica."

Earlier this week, Benfica coach Jorge Jesus confessed he is already on the lookout for alternatives should the 27-year-old leave the club.
