Palermo sporting director Walter Sabatini has revealed that Birmingham City had made an offer for Fabrizio Miccoli, but it had been swiftly turned down.

On Thursday, La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Birmingham had made an initial €4 million offer for the former Juventus striker.

However, Palermo are reluctant to lose their captain, who top-scored in their Serie A campaign with 19 goals in 32 appearances as the Rosanero side narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification.

"Miccoli is not for sale," Sabatini told Rete Rete 24.

"The offer from Birmingham is real but we have already said that it doesn't interest us, actually I don't even consider it to be an event.

"The player will stay with us also next season unless he tells us that he wants to leave to have other experiences."
