Tiago: Juve have 'murdered' me!

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Portugal midfielder Tiago Mendes has reiterated his desire for a permanent switch to Atlético Madrid while accusing Juventus of "murdering" his career.

After title-winning seasons at Chelsea and Olympique Lyon, a dream move to the Bianconeri in 2007 turned into a nightmare for Tiago.

His poor performances landing him the fans' vote for the 2008 Bidone d'Oro award as Serie A's worst player.

But the 29-year-old signed for Atlético on loan for the second half of last season and he recovered his form, helping the team to a Europa League triumph.

And Tiago, who is at the World Cup with Portugal, has made no secret of his wish to stay at Vicente Calderón.

He said in La Gazzetta dello Sport: "In Spain, at Atlético Madrid, I feel really good and I would like to remain, even if it's not up to me.

"At Juventus it has gone badly. They have 'murdered' me since the beginning without having seen me play.

"It has been a mistake joining Juventus and I'm not able to think about coming back."
