Enigmatic striker Antonio Cassano has moved to quash the speculation linking him with a move away from Sampdoria by saying: "I want to end my career here."

The former Bari, AS Roma and Real Madrid star was the wild child of Italian football but has found a new lease of life at Marassi.

In three years with Sampdoria, he has managed to corral some of his demons, putting in a consistent stream of inspiring performances.

There were rumours linking the tempestuous, but talented, forward with a surprising move to Inter Milan, the side he supported as a boy, but Cassano is adamant.

He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "As far as I’m concerned, the chances of going anywhere are close to zero.

"If president Riccardo Garrone sees it any differently, I don’t know.

"I want to end my career at Sampdoria. I am happy here, I feel like a king. Happiness is crucial in life and I found it right here."
