Over the weekend, Márquez and Barcelona reached an agreement to terminate his contract, freeing up the 31-year-old to join the New York outfit on a free transfer.

The versatile player joins Henry and Colombian striker Juan Pablo Ángel to give the Red Bulls three high-priced designated players, whose wages are mostly outside of the salary cap.

"I'm excited to be joining the Red Bulls," Márquez said in a statement.

"Despite having the opportunity to fulfil my contract with Barcelona, coming to New York and playing in Major League Soccer was a chance that I could not refuse.

"I'm completely committed to doing my very best to help the Red Bulls in the playoff push this year and compete for championships in the years to come."
