Premier League leaders Chelsea were held to a scoreless draw by Aston Villa as their trip to the Midlands ended in frustration.
Villa made a bright start and could have taken the lead inside three minutes when Stephen Ireland fired narrowly wide.
The Blues began to take control after the interval and dominated possession, but they were unable to break down a resolute Villa outfit and ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils.
