Table of Contents
Tottenham Hotspur were brought back to earth after their midweek European heroics as they lost 4-2 at Bolton Wanderers.

The home side took a deserved, albeit controversial, lead just past the half hour through Kevin Davies before Grétar Steinsson doubled the advantage with his first goal of the season on 56 minutes.

Davies grabbed his second of the game from the penalty spot in the 76th minute after Lee Chung-yong was brought down inside the area by Benoît Assou-Ekotto.

Alan Hutton pulled a goal back for Spurs in the 79th minute before Roman Pavlyuchenko reduced the arrears further three minutes from time with a stunning volley from an acute angle to set up a tense finale.

However, Bolton ended any hopes of a shock comeback from the visitors as in the dying seconds substitute Martin Petrov raced clear and slotted past Gomes.
