Defending champions Chelsea were beaten 1-0 at Birmingham City as they lost consecutive league matches for the first time since the end of the 2005/06 season.
Lee Bowyer scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute when he latched onto a header from Cameron Jerome to slide the ball home from eight yards.
Birmingham goalkeeper Ben Foster, fresh from his England start against France, then pulled off a string of fine saves in the second-half to keep Chelsea at bay.
