Jason Roberts stepped off the bench to give Blackburn Rovers a 2-1 success over Newcastle United at St James' Park.
Blackburn were ahead just three minutes in via Morten Gamst Pedersen but Andy Carroll headed Newcastle level two minutes after the break.
But substitute Roberts got on the end of a route-one ball eight minutes from time to seal the much-needed win.
