Substitutes Álvaro Negredo and Alejandro Alfaro netted second-half goals as Sevilla secured a 2-0 home victory over 10-man Valencia.
Valencia had Mehmet Topal sent off in the 25th minute for a tackle on Martín Cáceres and the hosts took full advantage with Negredo scoring the opener on 54 minutes.
Alfaro then sealed the victory in the 77th minute as he headed in Mouhamadou Dabo's cross from the right.
