The Genovan derby - the Derby della Lanterna - went the way of Genoa as they claimed a 1-0 triumph against cross-town rivals Sampdoria.
Genoa, who were technically the away side, sealed the win 10 minutes into the second half when Rafinha powered the ball into the net from distance.
