Spurs gave as good as they got at Old Trafford for large periods before Danny Welbeck opened the scoring from Tom Cleverley's cross.
The goal proved the catalyst for the home side to press home their advantage with Anderson and Wayne Rooney eventually clinching a comfortable victory.
