Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice, including a wonderful 35-yard free-kick, to inspire Portugal to a 6-2 demolition of 10-man Bosnia-Herzegovina the night and on aggregate.

Ronaldo put Portugal ahead in the eighth minute with a trade-mark dipping set-piece and an equally impressive strike from Nani 16 minutes later ensured they assumed control inside half an hour.

Bosnia kept in touch when Zvjezdan Misimović netted a penalty just before half-time, but Ronaldo charged through the defense and beat the goalkeeper before slotting in the ball from a tight angle for his second in the 53rd minute.

The visitors then had Senad Lulić sent off but they found a way back when Emir Spahic poked in on 66 minutes after Darko Maletić's mis-hit shot fell to him.

But with their numerical advantage, Portugal were well on top and a late double from Helder Postiga, either side of Miguel Veloso's impressive free-kick, sealed the thumping win.
