Yaya Touré fired Manchester City to within touching distance of the Premier League title as his exquisitely taken gave them to a 2-0 success at Newcastle United.

The deadlock was broken on 70 minutes when Touré exchanged passes with Sergio Agüero on the edge of the area before curling right-foot shot past Tim Krul and into the bottom corner.

And the Ivorian midfielder wrapped up the points with a minute remaining when he rounded off a fine counter-attack with a close range effort past Krul.

City now know that they will clinch their first top-flight crown since 1968 if they overcome relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers, and former manager Mark Hughes, at the Etihad Stadium next weekend.
