La Liga: Atlético Madrid 4-3 Rayo Vallecano
Table of Contents
Atlético Madrid very nearly threw away a four-goal lead in a crazy seven-goal thriller with Rayo Vallecano at the Vicente Calderón.
After taking a 1-0 lead into half-time courtesy of a Mario Suárez goal in the 29th minute, Atlético appeared to put the result beyond doubt with three goals in 10 minutes after the interval from Koke, Arda Turan and a Radamel Falcao penalty.
But the hosts took their foot off the pedal as the clock ticked down, allowing Rayo to score three times in the final 10 minutes.
A quick-fire brace from Andrija Delibašić and a follow-up from Léo Baptistão with just one minute of regular time remaining saw Rayo roar back into life and set up a grandstand finish, but they could not force an equaliser in what time remained.
