Thursday marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Senna, who was killed aged 34 in a high-speed crash in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

And the football club Senna supported decided to honour the man many consider to be the greatest racing driver who ever lived in a novel way before their cup tie against Nacional.

The players emerged from the tunnel at the Arena da Amazônia each holding a yellow helmet before putting it on together as the crowd applauded.

The iconic helmet, adorned with the colours of the Brazilian flag, became synonymous with Senna during a career that saw him win 41 races and collect three world titles.

For the record, Corinthians went on to win the game 3-0.
