AC Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has admitted that the club once tried to sign Francesco Totti when he was in the youth system with AS Roma.
The 38-year-old has spent his entire career at the capital club, winning five trophies in the 22 seasons he has spent with the Giallorossi.
"We tried to take Totti when he was a boy, but we didn't succeed," Galliani told reporters.
"We realised immediately that it was impossible to get him to leave Roma.
"Francesco has been a desire for us, but certain desires are never fulfilled.
"If he changed the yellow (in the Roma shirt) with black (in the Milan shirt) we'd be happy, because we too wear red."
