Harry Redknapp has been called a "liar" by Lyon striker Fred's agent after the Tottenham boss claimed the Brazilian failed to turn up for a meeting.
Redknapp is interested in the 25-year-old but said on Tuesday that a scheduled meeting with Fred did not materialise because the player failed to turn up.
Redknapp said: "I don't know what happened, the plan was for me to meet him and have a chat with him."
However, Fred's agent and brother, Rodrigo, has hit out at the claims, and confirmed that the disagreement means the player will no longer be signing at White Hart Lane.
He said in the Daily Mirror: "What Redknapp said is a lie, Fred never said he would come to a meeting.
"Redknapp said he would come to see us in France on Sunday but he did not come.
"Then everything changed, they suddenly wanted us to come to London on Monday. But here they would pressure him.
"He wanted to come to Tottenham but they let us down so he will not be joining them. It's as simple as that."
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas added: "Regarding Tottenham, we haven't talked. The last news is that there is a disagreement between Fred and the English club."
